DANCYFINGERS Get it on Google Play

Effective

Privacy policy

Applies to the Dancy Fingers Android app (package com.eiilo.games.dancyfingers) and to this website. Dancy Fingers is a rhythm game made by eiilo. It has no accounts of its own, no sign-up and no chat. The game itself does not collect personal information. The Android app shows ads through Google AdMob, asks for your consent through Google’s consent form where the law requires it, measures how it is used with Google Analytics for Firebase, and runs its leaderboards and achievements on Google Play Games. That is where almost everything in this policy comes from.

The short version

  • The app keeps your settings, your personal bests and any songs you generate on your own device. Generated songs are made on the phone and never uploaded.
  • The app shows ads served by Google. Google may use your device's advertising ID, IP address and device details to serve and measure those ads, subject to your consent where the law requires it.
  • The app sends usage statistics (sessions, how long they last, which ads were seen) to Google Analytics for Firebase so we can see how the game is played and how the ads perform, subject to your consent where the law requires it.
  • If you are signed in to Google Play Games, your scores go to the game's leaderboards and your achievements to your Play Games profile. Google runs that service.
  • You can change your consent at any time with the Privacy Options button on the app's Settings screen, and reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's settings.
  • We never see your name, e-mail address or contacts, and we do not sell data.
  • This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and shows no ads. The browser game remembers your scores and settings in your browser's local storage.

The app and this website are published by eiilo, the developer named on the Google Play listing. For any question about this policy or your data, write to hi@eiilo.com.

What the app stores itself

Your settings (note speed, audio offset, volumes, difficulty, survival mode), your personal best for each song and difficulty, and any songs you generate with the in-app composer, as audio and chart files. All of it is kept in the app's private storage on your device. None of it is sent to us.

Generated songs are composed and synthesized on your phone, by the app itself, without a network connection. They are never uploaded, and nobody else can see or play them. You can delete them from the song list, and uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in Android's settings, deletes everything.

Advertising

The app uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) to show a banner on the menu and results screens, an occasional full-screen ad after every few songs, and an optional rewarded video you can choose to watch to continue a failed run. Ads are never shown during a song.

To serve and measure these ads, Google may collect:

  • your device's advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in Android's settings;
  • your IP address and coarse location derived from it;
  • device and app details such as model, operating system version, language, screen size and the app's package name;
  • which ads were shown, viewed or tapped, and whether a rewarded video was completed.

We do not receive this data ourselves. It is processed by Google under Google's privacy policy, and Google explains its ad practices at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent form (the User Messaging Platform) before requesting any ad, and honours the choice you make. Personalised ads are only shown if you agree to them. If the consent form cannot be loaded, for example without a network connection, the game starts and simply shows no ads until it can.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with the Privacy Options button on the app's Settings screen, which opens the consent form again. The button appears wherever the law requires this choice.

Anywhere in the world you can limit ad personalisation by resetting or deleting your advertising ID: open Android's settings, then Google, then Ads (on some devices, Settings, then Privacy, then Ads). A reset gives your device a new, unrelated ID; deleting it stops apps from using one at all.

Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

The app includes the Google Analytics for Firebase SDK. It tells us, in aggregate, how many people play, how often and for how long, how many come back, on which kinds of devices and in which countries, and how many ads are seen per session and what they earn. We use this only to improve the game and to understand how the ads perform. We do not use it to identify you, and we never see your name, e-mail address or contacts.

To do this, Firebase collects:

  • a random app-instance ID created when the app is first opened, which is reset if you uninstall the app or clear its data;
  • your device's advertising ID, which links app usage with the ads shown, and which you can reset or delete in Android's settings;
  • app events such as first open, session start, time spent in the app, screens viewed and ad impressions;
  • device and app details such as model, operating system version, language, app version, and coarse location (country or region) derived from your IP address, which is not stored.

The data is processed by Google on our behalf and shared with AdMob, both of them linked to the same Google account, under Google's privacy policy and the Firebase privacy and security information. We see it only as reports and charts in the Firebase and AdMob consoles. Google Analytics keeps user-level data for at most 14 months before deleting it.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the consent form described above also governs usage statistics: Firebase reads your choice and limits what it stores, and how it may be used for advertising, accordingly.

Google Play Games

The leaderboards and achievements work through Google Play Games, a service provided by Google. When the app starts, it asks Play Games whether you are signed in. Android may sign you in automatically if you use Play Games on your device; if you are not signed in, you can sign in from the leaderboards or achievements button, or not at all. The game plays the same either way.

While you are signed in:

  • your scores are sent to the game's leaderboards;
  • the achievements you unlock, and your progress towards them, are sent to your Play Games profile;
  • Google processes your Play Games player ID and profile (your gamer name and avatar) to show them.

Other players may see your gamer name and score on the leaderboards, depending on your Play Games profile settings. All of this is handled by Google under Google's privacy policy, and you can manage or delete it from the Play Games app or your Google account. We can see the leaderboards like any player, and we never receive your name, e-mail address or contacts. Play Games data is not linked to the usage statistics above, and your generated songs are never sent to Play Games. When you are not signed in, nothing is sent to Play Games.

Permissions

The app asks for internet access and the ability to check the network state, and the Google SDKs it includes declare the advertising ID permission. These exist only so ads, usage statistics and Google Play Games can work; the game itself, the composer included, plays fine offline. It does not ask for your location, camera, microphone, contacts, files or notifications.

What we never do

  • We do not sell data, because we do not hold any.
  • We do not run analytics or crash reporting beyond Google Analytics for Firebase, described above.
  • We do not combine usage statistics with anything that identifies you by name.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not upload the songs you generate, or anything else you make, from your device.

The site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, includes no analytics or tracking scripts, and the browser version of the game shows no ads and has no leaderboards. Three things are worth knowing:

  • The browser version of the game remembers your settings and personal bests in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device, and clearing site data removes them.
  • The pages load a typeface from Google Fonts. Your browser sends its request, including your IP address, to Google to fetch it. Google describes what it does with those requests in its Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
  • The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web server, it receives your IP address, the page you asked for, the time and your browser's user agent with every request, and GitHub may keep these in logs for security and to keep the service running, as described in the GitHub General Privacy Statement. We do not receive or read these logs.

Dancy Fingers is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. Because it shows ads and collects usage statistics, it is not designed for young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents or guardians who believe a child has used the app and have concerns can contact us at hi@eiilo.com and we will help.

Data stored by the app, generated songs included, lives only on your device and disappears when you uninstall it. Usage statistics are kept by Google Analytics for at most 14 months at user level, then only as aggregate reports. Data processed by Google for ads, and your leaderboard scores, achievements and Play Games profile, are kept according to Google's own rules and can be managed through your Google account, the Play Games app and Android's advertising settings. We keep nothing of our own to delete.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal data about you, to object to its processing, to withdraw your consent, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because we do not hold your data, most of these requests are best made to Google through the links above. You can still write to us and we will help you find the right place.

If the app starts collecting anything new, for example if a "remove ads" purchase or crash reporting is added, this page will be updated and the effective date at the top will change before the new version of the app ships.
